Presented like an old fair sideshow, Crime & Punishment traces the darker side of history from medieval punishment through the gangster era. The exhibit itself once traveled the country at early 1900s fairs before being packed away, forgotten, and later rediscovered with items still wrapped in newspapers from the late 1940s.

This collection includes torture devices, a real jail cell, crime artifacts, an electric chair, and other pieces connected to the history of punishment and public spectacle. Its own backstory is just as unusual: the original exhibitor was also a fortune teller, and during a reading, the person he was reading shot and killed him. Afterward, the collection was packed away in a home basement and forgotten until it was discovered decades later by a new property owner.
